NAVIGATION AND MAPS

Common questions about in-vehicle navigation, including what Navigation Pro offers, how to update your maps, searching for destinations, sending routes from your phone, and saving favourite locations.

How do I update the navigation system’s maps?
  • The process for updating your map* will differ depending on your vehicles navigation system. Your navigation system depends on your vehicle model and its manufacture date, commonly referred to as “model year”. Your model year can be found on your vehicle documents. To find out what navigation system you have and how to update it, please visit our Map Updates page.

Will my maps be updated if I don't have access to a Connected Navigation Pro subscription?
  • You need an active Connected Navigation Pro subscription to automatically update your maps. However, you'll still be able to manually download and install maps for the duration of your warranty. To do this, please visit the following link: www.landrover.com/pivimap

In GSR2 markets, map updates are provided in accordance with legislation from model year 2024, independent of the Connected Navigation Pro subscription status. Additionally, users in GSR2 markets can manually update maps via USB. For more information, visit this link.

Note: For information on which markets have General Safety Regulations 2 (GSR2), please refer to this link. If there is any doubt regarding GSR2 regulations on the vehicle, seek advice from a retailer/authorised repairer.

How often are the maps updated?
  • Maps are updated monthly** and automatically in the background if there is an active Connected Navigation Pro subscription. Maps can also be manually downloaded free of charge within the initial vehicle warranty period* through the link below. It is recommended to perform these updates at least once a year.

How do I search for a destination?
  • Simply enter a place, postcode or address in the search box. Even if you spell the name/address incorrectly, the search function will usually recognise the intended location. Click on the number of results or hide keyboard button to reveal the related results.

If your vehicle has a data connection, the search will access the latest information in the cloud as well as your vehicle’s on-board database.

Can I send routes from my phone to the vehicle?
  • A place ‘saved’ in the Route Planner smartphone app  will appear in your favourite destinations once your vehicle has connected to the Internet and synced the destinations. If Navigation is open on the screen when a new destination is received from the Route Planner, the destination will appear as a pop-up panel. Tapping ‘use now’ will confirm the destination in the in-car navigation system. Places set as a destination via the Route Planner appear in recent destinations.

How do I select different map views in the virtual instrument display?
  • Change the layout of the Interactive Driver Display through the steering wheel settings. For additional Driver Display preferences, access Pivi Pro Settings > Navigation > Driver Display.

Why does the navigation map stop moving when I use the pinch to zoom gesture?
  • Interacting with the map switches it to Explore mode so places, routes or local traffic can be checked. The map automatically returns to Guidance mode after 60 seconds or when the recentre button is pressed.

Occasionally the speed limit information displayed on the navigation system does not match actual road signs. Why?
  • If Traffic Sign Recognition is not fitted, speed limits shown are based on the onboard map database. If fitted, the system uses a combination of onboard map database information and visible road signs. In some situations a road sign may not be visible to the vehicle cameras. Speed limits and safety camera locations are updated when onboard maps are updated. The driver remains responsible for obeying traffic regulations.

How many waypoints can I create along a route?
  • As many waypoints as required can be created along a route, including the destination. They are sequenced in the order added. To reorder waypoints, tap the expand arrow where ETA information is displayed in navigation.

Why is the homescreen showing an ETA for a destination that I haven’t selected?
  • The navigation system learns regular journeys and predicts potential destinations, showing ETA based on current traffic. With commutes enabled, the system can provide ETA without a set destination. If adverse traffic or route deviation occurs, the system can ask whether to switch to turn-by-turn guidance.

How many journeys do I need to make to the same destination before the commute feature learns the journey?
  • It generally requires two journeys to the same destination from the same start point before a Commute becomes regular. The current time must also be within plus or minus one hour of the learnt start time.

How do I set a destination?
  • A destination can be set from the homescreen Navigation tile, by setting Home, using search, selecting a POI, entering an address/postcode, using destination options such as Home, recent destinations, favourites, shared destinations or commutes, selecting a destination from the map, or sending a destination via Route Planner.

Why hasn’t the destination I sent to my vehicle appeared?
  • Destinations can only be received when the vehicle has a suitable data connection. High mobile network demand or poor reception may prevent the destination from being received.

How can I view alternative routes?
  • After selecting and confirming a destination by tapping Go, a pop-up appears briefly. Tap Routes to view the default route and up to two alternatives, then select the preferred route and tap Start.

How do I use the destination search function?
  • Enter a place, postcode or address in the search box. The search function will usually recognise the intended location even with spelling errors. If the vehicle has a data connection, the search accesses the latest cloud information as well as the onboard database.

What’s the most efficient way to search for a destination?
  • Press the hide keyboard icon or suggested results after typing enough characters for the system to provide results. This displays a full list of possible results. Tapping an item searches based on the text entered.

When entering a postcode using address entry, why isn’t there an option to add a house number?
  • Postcode entry searches from a central point within that postcode. It is possible to search using a street name and house number.

Why does the fuel-warning icon sometimes appear when I set a destination?
  • It warns that there may not be enough fuel to complete the journey without a stop. Tapping the fuel or energy warning displays filling or charge stations along the route and provides a more accurate ETA.

What is the arrival view?
  • When approximately five minutes from the destination, an arrival view pop-up invites the user to search for parking. Show parking displays nearby car parks and distance from the destination. Tapping Go adds the car park as a waypoint.

What is Smart Voice Guidance?
  • With Smart Voice Guidance enabled, the navigation system alerts to traffic delays on regular journeys and can recommend an alternative route. If the new route includes unfamiliar roads, voice guidance and turn-by-turn visual instructions are enabled automatically, then muted when familiar roads resume.

What are commutes?
  • The system learns routes driven from one location to another, such as work to home. Other frequent journeys at a similar time of day can also be learnt. The homescreen and navigation feature can display up to three predicted destinations with expected ETA.

How does the auto start commute function work?
  • With auto start commute enabled and no route or commute guidance active, the system predicts a likely destination based on regular learned journeys. Commute guidance starts automatically if the route follows the predicted route. If a traffic incident occurs, the system may alert the driver and allow an alternative route.

What does the mirror info panel setting enable in navigation settings for the Interactive Driver Display?
  • The option allows the info panel visible in the Touchscreen to also be shown to the side of the map view when Full screen map is selected in the Interactive Driver Display.

I selected satellite map view, but only one display shows satellite map view. Why?
  • Navigation settings allow satellite map view to be selected for either the Interactive Driver Display or the touchscreen, allowing any combination of map views across displays.

When I search for a destination it indicates the distance, but after confirming it the distance usually increases. Why?
  • Search distance is calculated as a straight line for faster results. A more precise distance is calculated when the full route is planned.

How can I search along my route for a Place of Interest?
  • Select a POI category or enter a search command, then pan the map along the route. Matching places are shown after a few seconds.

How is the safety camera database updated?
  • The camera database updates when the map database is updated. Safety camera locations highlight known accident black spots. The driver remains responsible for obeying traffic regulations.

In guidance mode, can I customise which notifications appear in navigation?
  • Yes, notifications can be customised by accessing navigation settings.

Can I enable audible traffic alerts broadcasts from local radio stations?
  • Yes. Go to Settings > All > Apps > Media > AM FM Settings > Traffic Announcements > On.
