Range Rover Evoque has earned its place as the world’s most recognisable and luxurious compact SUV. Since its launch, more than 750,000 Evoques have been sold globally, offering Range Rover luxury in a compact footprint to drivers across the world.
At 19 Model Year, Evoque is more desirable than ever, thanks to enhanced infotainment technology, a wider choice on exterior colour and more engine choice. There are plenty of reasons to test drive the Range Rover Evoque, and we’ve picked eight of the best.
1. The Landmark Special Edition gets more personalised
Range Rover Evoque is the original compact SUV; and the signature Landmark special edition remains the ultimate expression of Evoque’s pioneering luxury. Honouring the model’s international acclaim, the Landmark edition at 19 Model Year now comes with an extended range of exterior colour palettes. Alongside Yulong White and Corris Grey, Firenze Red, Indus Silver and Santorini Black are now also available as standard, alongside the optional and exclusive Moraine Blue.
The Landmark edition has a distinctive and commanding on-road presence, thanks to a unique exterior body style featuring a Corris Grey contrast roof and dynamic details such as modified claddings, bumpers and sills. To deliver enhanced performance, Landmark now also comes with the option of the Si4 240HP engine, which delivers a 0-60mph acceleration in as fast as 6.8 seconds and a top speed of up to 135mph.
2. Cleaner engines for improved emissions
Engineering innovation means we are producing some of our cleanest engines to date, making Range Rover Evoque more efficient than ever. Our eD4 150HP, TD4 180HP and Si4 240HP engines now meet the very latest EU6D-T emissions standards, which means that Evoque is so clean, it can pass freely through Ultra-Low Emission Zones; areas that restrict levels of vehicle pollutants.
New requirements outlined in EU6D-T regulations include the testing of vehicles in real-world driving scenarios which provides even greater accuracy in fuel consumption and emissions figures.
3. All-terrain capability
While its compact proportions make it easy to park in those tight town centre spaces, Evoque’s size does not compromise its capability. Four Wheel Drive comes as standard on all engines except eD4, enabling you to tackle the toughest terrains and conditions with greater ease. Technologies such as Terrain Response optimises Evoque’s engine, transmission and chassis systems for the best comfort and traction on unstable surfaces. All the driver has to do, is choose between the Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud & Ruts or Sand driving modes to ensure a drive with confidence.
If you’re caught in a tight spot in dangerous weather, Low Traction Launch can be manually selected to help prevent wheel spin as you pull away on slippery surfaces, by controlling torque in lower gears. Hill Descent Control – a Land Rover patented feature – applies braking separately to each wheel, to maintain a constant speed for the driver when heading down steep slopes.
4. Body styles to suit every driver
19 Model Year sees a greater focus on Evoque’s most popular body styles, the Five-Door hatchback and the luxury convertible. The Five-Door promises a spacious ride for you and your passengers with a healthy 575 litre loadspace with the seats up, providing more than ample room for the perfect weekend getaway. The convertible body style features a sophisticated Z-fold roof system that takes 21 seconds to deploy and 18 seconds to stow; bringing you closer to nature in moments.
5. Show-stopping exterior
As a first-of-its-kind premium compact SUV, Evoque’s powerful and athletic stance has become a staple on British roads and beyond, and since its launch into the market in 2010, Evoque’s global appeal has only increased. Despite taking key cues from the larger Range Rover SUV, Evoque garnered acclaim for holding its own as a unique vehicle, with a distinctive character that elevates beyond being a miniature version of its larger counterparts. Evoque’s key design features – including a dramatic rising beltline, a muscular shoulder running the length of the car and a distinctive taper to the floating roofline – give it a striking and contemporary feel, and have afforded it more than 200 international awards, including the World Car Design Award, Best Compact SUV at the 2018 Motorpress Best Car Awards and Best Small SUV at What Car? Car of the Year Awards.
6. Infotainment updates to keep you connected**
As you go out for a spin, let Range Rover Evoque take the lead on creating the ultimate soundtrack. Featuring the optional InControl™ Touch Pro* in-car infotainment system, the ‘More like this’ functionality generates playlists based on the track you’re currently playing and can store up to 2,500 songs. InControl™ Touch Pro’s 10.2” HD colour touch screen* connects you to all of your digital entertainment, navigation and climate control features, and with Pro Services, staying connected is even easier, as it comes with an Essential data plan of 500MB per month throughout the initial warranty period. The SIM card powers your vehicle’s Wi-Fi hotspot to which you can connect up to eight devices, and what’s more, 19 Model Year features new and improved graphics across the homepage and media screens for an even better driver experience.
7. Stylish interior
Luxury design continues when you step into the cabin of the Range Rover Evoque. The interior is appointed with quality materials, and customers are able to specify soft, premium leather and beautifully tailored twin-needle stitching, befitting of the elegance expected from a Range Rover. Evoque’s interior offers impressive levels of space and flexibility and is cleverly configured to offer robust practical storage, while retaining intricate detailing in the same space. Enhancing the sense of space and comfort is the optional Fixed panoramic roof with powered blind (standard on Landmark, HSE Dynamic, HSE Dynamic Lux) that extends right above the cabin to provide uninterrupted views of the surroundings for your passengers.
The driver’s seat is set quite low in Evoque, offering a more sporting feel for the driver, but retains the all-important Command Driving position, providing high sight lines and expansive visibility allowing you to master the road with confidence.
Top-end refinement and comfort does not detract from the dynamic drive of Evoque. Combining sporty handling with a sharp response makes Evoque agile and fun to drive, even on day-to-day urban routes. State-of-the-art Ingenium diesel and petrol engines play to the strength of the vehicle’s taut, agile handling by responding and adapting to individual driving style, all the while minimising fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.Models pictured are Range Rover Evoque Landmark Edition TD4 180HP AWD Auto, Range Rover Evoque HSE Dynamic Si4 240HP AWD Auto and Range Rover Evoque Convertible HSE Dynamic TD4 180HP AWD Auto with optional features fitted.
