What do I need to be able to drive?
Eligibility requirements vary depending on the experience you choose.
For most experiences, drivers must:
· Hold a full, valid driving licence
· Have at least two years' driving experience
· Have no more than six penalty points
For Defender Heritage Experiences, drivers must:· Be at least 25 years old
· Have held a full driving licence for a minimum of two years
· Have no more than six penalty points
For the Defender Young Off-Roader Experience, participants:
· Must be aged between 11 and 17 years old
· Must be at least 1.45 metres tall to comfortably reach the vehicle controls
· Do not require a driving licence

Yes, most of our Experience vehicles are automatic, so you can take part with a full, valid automatic driving licence.
Please note: Defender Heritage Experiences are conducted in manual transmission vehicles. To participate in a Heritage Experience, you must hold a full, valid manual driving licence that entitles you to drive a manual vehicle in the UK.
Please ensure you bring your driving licence with you on the day, as it will be checked before your experience begins.

Our fleet consists of carefully maintained, high-specification vehicles, allowing you to experience the latest off-road technologies, driver assistance features and premium design innovations. Children can attend from the age of six using their own seat, which must be fitted by the parent/guardian. We ask that you contact the Experience Centre in advance to confirm this will be possible for your Driving Experience.
For younger guests who want to get behind the wheel themselves, we also offer the Defender Young Off-Roader Experience. Designed for children aged 11 to 17 years old, participants can drive a real Defender under the guidance of a fully qualified Land Rover Experience Product Expert. Drivers must be at least 1.45 metres (145cm) tall to safely reach and operate the vehicle controls.

While most of your experience will be spent behind the wheel, many guests also enjoy stepping out at selected locations throughout the course to watch the vehicle tackle obstacles, take photographs and videos, and capture memorable moments from the day. These stops provide excellent opportunities to appreciate the terrain, learn more about the vehicle's capabilities, and share your experience with friends and family afterwards.
As conditions can be muddy and the ground uneven in places, we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather and bringing layers if required. Your Product Expert will advise you throughout the experience and ensure you're fully prepared to enjoy everything the experience has to offer.

Conditions may be muddy and uneven, so layers and waterproof clothing are recommended.
For your safety and comfort, wellington boots, flip-flops, sandals, and other open-toe footwear are not suitable for the experience.

There is no designated spectator area at Land Rover Experience West Country, and non-participating guests are not permitted to follow vehicles around the course.

The experience is tailored to the individual. For first-time drivers, the focus may be on basic vehicle control, steering, braking and building confidence behind the wheel. More confident participants may progress to increasingly challenging terrain and driving exercises, developing their understanding of vehicle capability and off-road techniques.
Young drivers will tackle a variety of off-road features, which may include hills, uneven ground, mud, side slopes and other obstacles, depending on conditions and their level of experience. Throughout the session, the Product Expert will adapt the route and challenges to ensure the experience is safe, engaging and rewarding, while helping young drivers develop new skills and confidence behind the wheel.
