Land Rover is an official Team Partner of the GREAT Britain entry in the Clipper 2013-14 Round the World Yacht Race, which departed from London’s iconic Tower Bridge on the 1st of September 2013 to compete in the ultimate long distance match race.
After a rousing send-off the teams received a warm welcome in all 16 port stop-overs, from a thrilling yacht race in Sydney, Australia; a breathtaking display from hundreds of traditional drummers in Qingdao, China; training with the New York Fire Department; to a spectacular Maritime Festival in London-Derry, Northern Ireland. Thus, ensuring the teams experienced each and every culture the global circuit had to offer.
Land Rover’s support of the GREAT Britain entry puts it at the heart of an innovative global campaign partnership between the race organisers, Clipper Ventures, the UK Government and British Brands, promoting British trade and tourism around the world. The Land Rover sponsored 70-foot, monohull, state-of-the-art ocean racing yacht has completed eight legs, visiting 16 ports over six continents and sailing 40,000 miles in a challenge that took the GREAT Britain team on a daring global circuit.
Each competing Clipper Race team had to face both individual and team challenges but in an inspiring display of strength of mind, mental fortitude and spirit of adventure have all successfully completed the circumnavigation of the globe. Having gone through a pioneering training programme, the competitors have been transformed into highly skilled yacht crew members who with true grit and determination pushed above and beyond to complete this epic adventure.

The premium car manufacturer is continuing its investment in sailing as the series main partner of the Extreme Sailing Series and as the Official Team Partner and Vehicle Partner to Red Bull Extreme Sailing Team.
