    • Available across the Land Rover vehicle range, Park Assist is like having an automated personal parking attendant with you at all times.

The system helps you manoeuvre in and out of parking spaces, making parallel and perpendicular parking easier.

      WHAT IS IT

Park Assist is a system that gives your Land Rover the capability to park itself in a space at the side of the road or in a car park. The system can also get the vehicle out of a tight parking space.

      WHAT DOES IT DO?

The system uses sensors around the vehicle to measure up potential parking spaces as you drive slowly along. Once a suitable space is located, it asks you to stop (via the dashboard), release the steering wheel and select reverse gear. It then takes over the steering as you reverse, automatically avoiding objects and other vehicles. Because you control the accelerator and the brakes, you can go as slowly as you like, and stop whenever you need to. If adjustments to the position are necessary, it will ask you to stop and select a forward or reverse gear as appropriate, and again will control the steering to park the vehicle neatly.

From 2014 model year vehicles onwards, there are three Park Assist modes - Parallel Park helps you reverse into a parking space that is parallel to your vehicle, Perpendicular Park helps you into a parking space that is at a 90° angle to your vehicle, and Parking Exit helps you exit a parallel parking space.

      HOW DO YOU ACTIVATE IT?

The Park Assist auto-searching feature is activated when the vehicle’s speed slows to below 18mph. Alternatively, you can press the Park Assist button on the touchscreen to activate the system. On the latest versions, there are three modes: the first push of the button selects Parallel Parking, the second push selects Perpendicular Parking for car parks, and the third push selects Parking Exit. Once you’ve selected a mode, follow the instructions and alerts shown in the message centre to complete the required manoeuvre. A fourth push switches the system off again.

WHEN WILL YOU NEED IT MOST?

Park Assist is particularly useful in the city, where there never seems to be anywhere to park. The system spots parking spaces that you might have thought were too small, and then parks the vehicle for you. The Parking Exit function ensures you can get the vehicle out from the parking space later.

      ARE THERE ANY LIMITATIONS?

On narrow roads with cars parked on both sides, there might not be enough room for the system to carry out its parking manoeuvre safely. The minimum road width is 4.5 metres between the parked cars.

The Park Assist system can sense large objects like other vehicles, but may not see children or animals, mesh fences, small items near the ground or bicycles and motorcycles near the kerb. You must always manoeuvre with care and be ready to stop if necessary.

Park Assist is deactivated if the vehicle is towing a trailer.

      WHICH MODELS HAVE IT?

Park Assist is available on all Land Rover models.
