    • From its interior versatility to the new Ingenium Engine and InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, we highlight 10 reasons to try the 2017 Discovery Sport.

Launched in late 2014, the Discovery Sport – the world’s most versatile, premium compact SUV – brings real benefits to you and your passengers. Below, we round up ten key features that we think you’ll love about the world’s most versatile and capable premium compact SUV.

Discovery Sport HSE Dynamic Lux takes versatility to new heights.

With its flexible 5+2 seating – unique in the compact premium SUV segment – and comfortable, high quality interior, it’s safe to say the design team met the challenge. Offering 981 litres in load capacity with the back two seats folded and 1,698 litres with all the seats folded, the Discovery Sport is a triumph of versatility. Need extra room in the back seats? Occupants can slide their seats back by a class-leading 160mm.

Our challenge has been to combine premium design with exceptional versatility.

The most advanced infotainment system Land Rover have ever created, InControl Touch Pro – which comes with an 825-watt Meridian Surround Sound audio system as standard – is designed to make driving safer and more enjoyable. Choose the InControl Connect Pro Pack for enhanced functionality that lets you navigate the system’s 10.2-inch HD screen using intuitive gestures and use voice control to complete tasks without taking your eyes of the road. The Connect Pro Pack also helps you plan your journeys from door-to-door via a companion smartphone app and Commute Mode - a setting which generates predictive destinations based on your driving habits. What’s more, it’ll provide real-time traffic updates to help you get to your destination in good time.

The first engine to be built and designed by Jaguar Land Rover, the Ingenium Engine is available on the Discovery Sport. The engine uses its 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, lightweight all-aluminium construction to provide stellar performance and a remarkably quiet drive, whilst achieving up to 57.7mpg (combined cycle).

In addition, the engine’s service interval has been extended from 16,000 to 21,000 miles, or two years (increased from one year) - whichever comes sooner. This extension means engine servicing is required less frequently, which in turn means you’ll save time and money. To experience the full benefits of these updates, you’ll need to make sure you top up your AdBlue fluid levels.

With WiFi capability and three USB ports as standard (up to six optional), it is incredibly easy to stay connected whilst in the Discovery Sport, making it ideal for long-distance family adventures. Send emails on-the-go, charge devices, or stream entertaining content, all from the comfort of the passenger and back seats.

Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the greatest difference, and Gesture Tailgate – replacing the Powered Tailgate – will improve your everyday-driving experience. Available as standard on the SE Tech trim level and above, it lets you open your tailgate using a simple foot gesture to either side of the car's bumper, provided your Smart Key is nearby. Whether your hands are full of camping equipment or grocery bags, Gesture Tailgate adds an extra level of convenience to your driving experience.

With the 2017 release comes more options to customise the vehicle to suit you. The new Graphite Pack – which modifies the front grille, bonnet script, wheels, side vents, roof, and mirror caps – is available on the SE and SE Tech derivatives of the Discovery Sport. Also available is the HSE Dynamic Lux, revealed at Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. The flagship of the Discovery Sport range, it adopts a more aggressive stance without losing any of its core design. Privacy glass, a Windsor leather interior, and a dynamic steering wheel – this derivative’s interior and exterior design cues set it apart.

Class-leading off-road capability is in the DNA of all Land Rovers, and the Discovery Sport is no different. With testing carried out in landscapes as varied as New Mexico and The Faroe Islands, the vehicle is built to deliver an assured drive on any terrain.

As well as trademark ruggedness, the Discovery Sport is equipped with a suite of innovative technologies designed to keep you in complete control, whatever the conditions. Going on an exploratory off-road drive? Wade Sensing takes the guesswork out of crossing water by providing real-time information on the water depth around your vehicle. Another new addition to the vehicle is Low Traction Launch – a system that helps you pull away on a low friction surface like wet grass or snow by optimising the amount of torque delivered.

Land Rover’s commitment to passenger, pedestrian, and driver safety saw the Discovery Sport awarded five stars by Euro NCAP – the highest possible rating. It scored highly for its adult, child, and pedestrian protection, as well as for its safety technologies. With Driver Condition Monitoring, Pedestrian Airbag, Lane Keep Assist and more, the vehicle provides peace of mind to you and your family.

The 2017 Discovery Sport’s maximum towing capacity of 2,500kg means that whether you’re driving to the coast for a day of sailing or transporting your horse to a dressage competition, you have ample capability to bring necessary equipment along. This, together with Trailer Stability Assist (an automatic system that minimises swaying) and Tow Hitch Assist (which helps the driver couple the tow bar with the tow hitch) means towing with a Discovery Sport is both safe and effortless.

Discovery Sport's Towing Capabilty gives you the confidence and control for every journey.

Optional on the Discovery Sport, Adaptive Cruise Control makes long-distance on-road driving more efficient and enjoyable by maintaining a set vehicle speed. Further enhanced by Queue Assist, the system can also monitor the car in front of you and maintain the distance between you, slowing automatically if traffic ahead slows down. With your target speed or vehicle distance set and automatically maintained, you’ll save on fuel, lower the chances of accidents, and won’t accidentally exceed speed limits.

Our Cruise Control and Adaptive Cruise Control systems are designed to make on-road driving more efficient and more comfortable.
