    • With winding roads and stunning coastlines, Scotland’s North Coast 500 is an awe-inspiring route. Starting at Inverness and ending at John O’Groats, the 516-mile route features some of the most picturesque scenery in Europe. We challenged YouTubers the Michalaks - Stefan, Hannah and their son Grayson - to take on the route in Land Rover’s most versatile family SUV yet, the Discovery.

200 miles of the scenic Scottish Highlands’ route are comprised of single track country roads. There are blind corners, hairpin bends and steep edges in abundance. Stefan decided to stop off at the Land Rover Experience Centre at Butterstone Loch before the trip started, to learn how to make best use of the vehicle. With incessant rain and poor visibility, his newfound knowledge prepared him to apply the Discovery’s features, commenting: “The vehicle is fitted with tons of ingenious features to make travelling with your family way more enjoyable.”

As videographer for the family’s YouTube channel, Stef stopped frequently to capture the breathtaking scenery. The vehicle’s boot was large enough to store all of his filming equipment, and the Powered Inner Tailgate created space for Hannah to sit and take in views of the dramatic coastline and magical lakes.

Hannah enjoyed spectacular views from the powered inner tailgate.

As well as the spacious boot and multipurpose tailgate, there were several other features that enhanced the Michalaks’ road trip experience in the wilderness.

The two 8-inch screens located in the back of the front headrests with individual cordless headphones allowed Grayson to watch Peppa Pig throughout the trip. This kept him busy and offered his parents some much appreciated quiet moments.

Our mobile app, InControl Remote Premium, allowed the family to control the vehicle’s climate, which kept it warm and inviting in the cold, rainy weather. Stef was so inspired by the rugged landscape that he stopped to film it frequently - having a heated Discovery to get back into made the downpours that much more bearable.

USB charging points are available on each of the three rows of seats, which meant the Michalaks were able to capture and share their most cherished memories of the trip without worrying about the battery on a camera or mobile phone running out.

On-road and off-road adventures are made easy with All-New Discovery’s air suspension, improved ground clearance and class-leading wheel articulation – “a pleasure to drive” is how Stef described it. Terrain Response 2 monitors surface conditions and selects your driving mode for you to create the ideal powertrain and chassis set up for your adventure. And when the family encountered narrow roads, the exterior cameras offered a calm sense of reassurance.

Watch Stef sharing his thoughts on All-New Discovery in his own words:
