DRIVING TECHNOLOGY
You´ll feel completely in control, more skilful. Four-corner Air suspension, with cross-linking and fully adjustable four-mode ride height, delivers skilful on and off-road dynamics. The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Alert system uses radar to scan the road 10 times a second. It lessens the need for driver intervention, allowing you to relax and travel long distances in comfort. Outstanding Land Rover technology like Terrain Response®, exceptional brakes and the acclaimed Air suspension, helps ensure that it takes changing conditions and terrains in its stride.

Smart steering raises your level of control, stability and road surface feedback. Adjusting the amount of effort needed to steer provides a nimble feel at low speed and more weighted steering at high speed. Dynamic Response (standard TDV8/Supercharged) optimises body control on-road, and maximises wheel travel off-road by automatically ´un-hooking´ the anti-roll bars. Bi-xenon Adaptive Front Lighting changes the beam direction as the vehicle turns, cleverly following the curves of the road.
Adaptive Cruise Control
When you want to sit back in comfort, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Alert offers a more relaxed drive that´s ideal for motorway cruising. Using radar to scan the road 10 times a second, ACC will dynamically match the speed of the vehicle in front of you, settling down behind it and maintaining a constant speed and one of four cruise gap distances set by your preference. Should you close in on the vehicle ahead, Forward Alert quickly provides an audio and visual signal.

Advanced braking system
Range Rover Sport has exceptional stopping power. All TDV8 and supercharged derivatives employ four-piston Brembo calipers with large brake discs. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) is also on-hand to reduce braking distances in an emergency and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution helps deliver the confidence of maximum control without wheel lock.
Ride, handling, control and balance are all exceptional due to independent front and rear suspension. Computer controlled cross-linked air springs over each wheel supply further levels of on-road refinement and composure under all road conditions, helping maintain a level ride height irrespective of load. Our system also enables exceptional wheel articulation for outstanding off-road handling and Traction. As Range Rover Sport´s suspension was designed from the outset to accommodate the TDV8 engine, it´s no surprise that the new derivative´s on-road agility and balance match the remarkable standards set by its V8 supercharged sibling.

Dynamic Response
Standard on Range Rover Sport Supercharged and the TDV8, optional on other models, the Dynamic Response system senses cornering forces and acts accordingly. It helps minimise the risk of roll and provides superb handling even under challenging conditions and yet maintains ride support and comfort. When off-road terrain warrants greater wheel travel Dynamic Response enables this by releasing the anti-roll bars.

Terrain Response®

Inching over rocks and boulders, gliding through soft sand, gripping snow and ice – Range Rover Sport is always in its element. This is due to Land Rover patented technologies like Terrain Response®. With five terrain settings to choose from, via a rotary control on the centre console, all you have to do is select the correct Terrain Response® option for the conditions. It then automatically selects the most appropriate settings for the many advanced electronic controls and Traction aids. Ensuring that different road conditions are more easily managed with minimum driver input.

The Positive Torque system, standard on all TDV8 and supercharged derivatives, provides faster downshifts by automatically blipping the throttle to match engine and road speeds, for an even more dynamic, sporty drive. Huge reserves of Torque are available across the rev range. Peak torque at 640Nm is available continuously from 2000rpm to 2500rpm, and more than 500Nm is available from below 1500rpm to over 3700 rpm. The result is an instant response and swift acceleration when overtaking or from standstill.
Electronic ´e´ differential
Range Rover Sport has the capability to harness all available grip in challenging driving conditions and difficult terrains. All vehicles have centre electronic ´e´ differential (e-diff) as standard and rear as an option, fully capable of automatically determining through the Traction control system where best to distribute the Torque. E-diff delivers superior on and off-road Traction by the cross wheel slip without the need for sudden intervention from the brakes. E-diff can act sooner and more subtly than the traditional Traction control methods that rely on the ABS system.
